DESCRIPTION
Forget the rest, you`ve found the best! Very rare historic La Jolla Beach Cottage in an incredible location. Wonderful ocean views await and the beach is just steps away from this beautifully finished vacation home. The home is on Ocean Lane between Coast Boulevard and Prospect Street, right in the very heart of the Village of La Jolla.
Step inside this 1930`s era beach cottage lovingly restored and maintained for your enjoyment. Some of the highlights include hardwood flooring, wood ceilings with remote-controlled skylights that open for a sunroof effect. Bay windows offer peek ocean views from the living room, dining area, and guest suite. Off the guest suite is the bathroom with a shower. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the cookware, and dishes needed to prepare your favorite meals, along with plenty of counter space and a period-inspired Northstar refrigerator and Convection oven.
In the living room, there is a gas fireplace to warm the evenings along with a comfy couch where you can relax and watch your favorite shows, including HBO, on the flat-screen HDTV. Or if you`d like to spend a lazy day in bed, there`s a flat-screen in the master as well, but the ocean views may be too distracting!
LOCATION
Guests at Casa de las Olas can take a brief stroll down to the ocean and La Jolla Cove. Extraordinarily beautiful, La Jolla Cove is one of the most photographed shorelines in Southern California. Because it is a protected Ecological Reserve, marine wildlife abounds. featuring sea lions, dolphins and even whales during migrating seasons. Water visibility at the Cove can sometimes exceed 30 feet, making it a very popular spot for Scuba, snorkeling and kayaking. Just up the stairs is the lively Village shopping and dining district where you will find unique treasures and delicious ocean view restaurants.
We have 2 other adjacent cottages, Casa del Sol and Casa de la Sirena in the same location in case you have more in your group. Contact us for more details! We welcome you to experience all that La Jolla has to offer and be our guest at Casa de las Olas.

We knew it would be a tight fit, based on the reviews, but the space was perfect for us and worth the price for the proximity to the cove. We never had to look long for a parking space or park more than a 5 minute walk away. When unloading and loading our vehicle, we found it easiest to park, with hazards, just below the house at the junction of Ocean and Coast and walk up the ~10 stairs.

It has nine skylights offering abundant light, views of the ocean so close you can see seals playing in the waves, and a sanctuary of home in an otherwise bustling coastal town. This was a really beautiful little cottage house, with a lovely ocean view. It’s a bit smaller than you’d think from the pictures and the bedroom felt a bit tight. Other than that it was clean and cute as button. The best part is the location— you can just walk out the front door to the beach and cliffs to find seals, sea lions, sea bird colonies, and a scenic trail to the north.

Unbeatable location and fantastic host. One item I hate about airbnbs is when they cheap out on condiments, cleaning supplies, or cookware. This location had it all. The host did not cheap out. We were able to cook breakfasts and dinners there while enjoying the view while eating. One block away from the beach,one block away from a nice selection of local shops and restaurants. Highly recommend visiting Parfait Paris which is a short walk for coffee and French pastries. About an 8-9 minute walk from The Cave Store which is a big tourist attraction and we went when it opened and beat all the crowds thanks to being so close! Decent amount of free street parking when we went. A lot of areas to walk around and enjoy. Looking forward to booking with this group again. Thank you!

This little bungalow was perfect for us (2 adults and a toddler). It is small, but all the natural light makes it feel spacious, and they did a great job with the overall layout. Plus, it was nice being in a contained area so our toddler was always in our view. There are skylights in the living room, so if you travel with a kid that needs darkness to sleep, bring a slumber pod. We lucked out with a good sleeper, so it didn’t bother ours at all. We were so thankful the living room had air conditioning because apparently we visited during the hottest week on record in decades. The bedroom did get warm, but we found a fan in the closet that helped. The home came equipped with everything we needed, including beach towels, chairs, and an umbrella! You will need to climb some stairs to get to and from the house the street, so be aware if stairs are a problem. Parking was easy to find too! The host was quick to address any concern.

Our family had an amazing 5 days! Everything about this place is perfect for a couple or a family with a small child. It is small for sure, but has everything you could possibly need. My husband, son (8) and I stayed and enjoyed looking at the ocean from the living room and bedroom while we were at the house. Venturing out was so easy bc everything is a 2 minute walk! La Jolla Cove and all it has to offer is the best. Brockton Villa was our favorite restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner! We also loved going to Scripps Park and throwing the football with our son. Sunsets are amazing. Enjoy!

Great place to stay if you\'re interested in a beach get-away that is close to San Diego. Great amenities, Bluewater Vacation Homes included a fan, beach chair, beach towels, and even an umbrella. The kitchen was well-stocked and even included a Brita Water Filter so you didn\'t have to buy water. You\'re about a 10-15 min walk from the Grocery Store or a 5 min drive with a fast EV charger. The shower is wonderful--good pressure, good heat and a rain shower feature! It does get a bit humid, though, we were there during a historic rain fall. Bluewater Vacation homes checked in with us a couple of times throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. The instructions they provided were very clear and much appreciated. Would definitely recommend this listing.

Absolutely loved my stay here. The location is amazing and everything is very walkable. You can be at the beach in about a 5-minute walk. You’re also surrounded by great restaurants and shops. My only challenge was finding the place. Ocean Ln is not an actual street, but an alleyway that connects Coast Blvd to Prospect St. So it took me a few minutes to actually figure that out. I’ll definitely book here again and would recommend anyone else looking for a great place to stay in La Jolla do the same!

This adorable bungalow is set in paradise! Pristine place with a direct view of the ocean from the living-room! Can’t beat that! The location is top! The only thing I would have changed was the bed. The linens were really soft, but the mattress wasn’t very comfortable. Everything else was perfect and I’d definitely recommend it!

Wow, a completely idyllic experience! Steps from the ocean on a quiet street. You fall asleep listening to the waves, it’s unreal! The space has so much charm and is really peaceful, I kept saying to my husband that I was ready to move in permanently! The communication was fantastic through a streamlined text message check-in and friendly reminder system. It was easy to get anywhere by foot or bike, so it was truly the perfect home base for any beachy San Diego trip. I can’t wait to come back!

I stayed here for a relaxing romantic birthday getaway and it was so wonderful! The location and views were amazing. We started with mimosas in the cottage with ocean views, then walked up the back steps to downtown La Jolla to enjoy the shops and restaurants and treats! (the gelato at the gelateria frizzante is amazing) Later that afternoon we enjoyed a stroll along the coast... all without driving anywhere!! It was wonderful to have the cottage in the middle of everything to pop back into. It was so relaxing 🙂 This cottage is absolutely adorable. I loved the bright fun appliances and everything was so clean and new. There was everything we needed and more! We laughed at our curiosity when we pressed the button over the bedside table, and the steam shower started! This place has it all! I would definitely stay here again and again!! It is phenomenal!

This was the perfect location for my 60th birthday. One short block down to the beach to see beautiful sunsets, sea lions and seals. One block up to all the shops and restaurants of downtown La Jolla. It was truly ideal for the two of us. The Bluewater team checked in with us daily to make sure we had everything we needed. There was a sweet welcome bag of treats and a nice bottle of wine in honor of my birthday. They could not have been more accommodating. The pictures accurately reflect the place and views with one exception. The tub shown is now a large walk-in shower with a choice of two shower heads. This great little home is the perfect getaway place for a couple wanting to be near the ocean and great restaurants - all within walking distance, no car needed.
We loved being able to walk to shops and restaurants and to see gorgeous sunsets every night. We definitely want to return someday soon!

We stayed in this property for two weeks

We stayed in this property for two weeks. We really enjoyed being so close to the ocean. We spent one whole week on the beach swimming, sunbathing, and reading. Having the home so close by, we were able to have picnic lunches and daily evening walks to the Cove for beautiful sunsets. There are a million restaurants within walking distance and so much to see and do. A wonderful place to just unwind and relax. We will definitely book this home again in the future.

The shower was dreamy and high tech. We just loved the location, close to the beach (yes, views) and all the shops and restaurants a block away. Excellent remodel for an old cottage. Parking was not a problem, and we rarely used our car, anyway. I would definitely return and thank the management company for the helpful binder with all the necessary information to enjoy the area. We spent Thanksgiving weekend at Casa de las Olas. The location was fabulous--a short block one way to La Jolla Cove and a short block the other way to the heart of downtown La Jolla. The cottage was clean, comfortable, fully equipped and quiet. The Service from Bluewater Vacation Homes was excellent. They regularly followed up with reminders and local information. The only "problem" I had, being a Luddite, was trying to figure out how to operate the tv's and dvd players. An instruction sheet would be useful and appreciated. - R. Hesik

Stunning! Perfect location one block from the ocean and one block from the village. Cottage is just as described and photos are an accurate representation. It was very clean, had beautiful near new towels and bed linen and a well equipped kitchen. The management company was great to deal with. To note, it is fairly small so best suited for a couple at the most (maybe with one small child). The bathroom is off the bedroom and the toilet is off that. So anyone sleeping on the sofa bed has to go through the bedroom. Bathroom is tiny but adequate. Also, this is the heart of the village so there is noise from people using the stairs/lanes down each side of the property, trash collection for commercial properties each morning, doof doof music noise from cars, construction from nearby renovations. At other times it was dead silent and we could hear the waves crashing on the shore. Parking was a nightmare. If you plan on exploring the village/cove you won't need to drive. But if you're heading to wider San Diego area each day be prepared to drive around looking for a park 1-2 blocks away. Overall we loved it and would thoroughly recommend it. Wonderful beach cottage! We did not want to leave. Casa de las Olas was a fantastic size for our family of 3 and the view of the ocean was outstanding. The bathtub/shower with 2-way glass was a really great way to always take advantage of the ocean view. Cottage furnishings, amenities and decor are very well done. You cannot ask for a better location as the beach and La Jolla Cove shops are just one block in either direction. We would highly recommend this property to friends and plan to return. Review #5119764 Ideal ocean cottage getaway Looking for a weekend away from Los Angeles stress, a friend and I set out to La Jolla to find haven near the water. We expected the 8001 Ocean Lane property to be the ideal getaway but had no idea it was going to be as marvelous as it was. The listing photos and description do not do justice to the serene and charming atmosphere of the place. It was brilliantly clean with all the necessary amenities and left us beaming with delight at the door, fearing that if we walked too far in it would end up being a dream. The surrounding area has a variety of shops, cafes, and attractions that are just blocks away making exploring easily accessible. Yet, even with the town center being just up the street, there is little rowdy foot or vehicle traffic around the cottage providing the perfect feeling of comfortable seclusion. The area and shops are incredibly welcoming, relaxing, and fun look for smiling servers and delicious treats at Cups cupcakery! I highly recommend the cottage to any friends, family, partners, or individuals looking for a beautiful and accommodating place to stay in the La Jolla area.

Review #6760429 Perfect Stay in Wonderful Cottage The service with Bluewater Vacations was very good and check in was easy. Parking was diffucult on somedays however we always found a place close by. Cottage was just as pictures describe. Was just big enough for my wife and I will all the amenities one would need. The house was hot when we arrived but once we could open up all windows it cooled down and stayed pretty cool. You should note the bathroom is very small, not one that 2 people can fit in at the same time. We were closer to the ocean than expected and a quick walk up the public stairway on the side of the house took you right to the middle of La Jollo and all the shops. I wouldn't stay here with more than 3 people and for 2 it was absolutely perfect. Whenever we come down to visit my son I will look to see if this place is available. Make sure you go to Cody's (half block away) and the Cottage for breakfast. They were the best in town.

(Continued from 14a)...December was the perfect time to go - all the popular attractions were available with no lines and no waiting. Street parking only, but it was very doable. Most of the time, we got a spot right in front of the cottage. You may not want to sleep too late, because city garbage trucks come by early. Perfect place if you want to have the water view and beauty without being surrounded by tons of people.

Very comfortable and cozy cottage. Loved watching the sunset, the seals, the seagulls and the surfers. Wonderful dining around the corner. I would highly recommend Cody's - their french toast was to die for!!. The management company was very responsive to any and all minor needs. Our enjoyment in this cottage was their priority. To find this cottage, Ocean Lane is a set of stairs. So when you drive over, look up the stairs and you will find the cute cottage. So glad I chose this cottage as it is right in the middle of town and the beautiful cove. Grab a glass of wine and stroll to cove for sunset, walk up the other direction and enjoy a fabulous gelato. Location can't be beat! I didn't drive much, but was able to find parking on the street when I had to. The birds are very loud in the early, early morning, but there are some fans available that can probably drown out the sound. Will definitely stay again!

But if you're heading to wider San Diego area each day be prepared to drive around looking for a park 1-2 blocks away. Overall we loved it and would thoroughly recommend it. Stunning! Perfect location one block from the ocean and one block from the village. Cottage is just as described and photos are an accurate representation. It was very clean, had beautiful near new towels and bed linen and a well equipped kitchen. The management company was great to deal with. To note, it is fairly small so best suited for a couple at the most (maybe with one small child). The bathroom is off the bedroom and the toilet is off that. So anyone sleeping on the sofa bed has to go through the bedroom. Bathroom is tiny but adequate. Also, this is the heart of the village so there is noise from people using the stairs/lanes down each side of the property, trash collection for commercial properties each morning, doof doof music noise from cars, construction from nearby renovations. At other times it was dead silent and we could hear the waves crashing on the shore. Parking was a nightmare. If you plan on exploring the village/cove you won't need to drive...(Continued on 12

"Location location location in La Jolla" Quaint beach bungalow steps away from La Jolla cove, restaurants and shopping along Prospect street. Interior interesting mix of retro and more modern amenities. Pictures are very accurate but overall space is only good for a couple. Single bathroom is tiny and no counter space but sports a steam shower/tub combo. Kitchen and outdoor grill made cooking meals easy but lack of dishwasher tempered use. Parking can be a treasure hunt but owners thoughtfully offer off site parking garage pass for summertime use. Management company very easy to work with and very responsive to maintenance requests. Review #6760429 Perfect Stay in Wonderful Cottage - The service with Bluewater Vacations was very good and check in was easy. Parking was diffucult on somedays however we always found a place close by. Cottage was just as pictures describe. Was just big enough for my wife and I will all the amenities one would need. The house was hot when we arrived but once we could open up all windows it cooled down and stayed pretty cool. You should note the bathroom is very small, not one that 2 people can fit in at the same time. We were closer to the ocean than expected and a quick walk up the public stairway on the side of the house took you right to the middle of La Jollo and all the shops. I wouldn't stay here with more than 3 people and for 2 it was absolutely perfect. Whenever we come down to visit my son I will look to see if this place is available. Make sure you go to Cody's (half block away) and the Cottage for breakfast. They were the best in town.

Wonderful beach cottage! We did not want to leave. Casa de las Olas was a fantastic size for our family of 3 and the view of the ocean was outstanding. The bathtub/shower with 2-way glass was a really great way to always take advantage of the ocean view. Cottage furnishings, amenities and decor are very well done. You cannot ask for a better location as the beach and La Jolla Cove shops are just one block in either direction. We would highly recommend this property to friends and plan to return. We spent Thanksgiving weekend at Casa de las Olas. The location was fabulous--a short block one way to La Jolla Cove and a short block the other way to the heart of downtown La Jolla. The cottage was clean, comfortable, fully equipped and quiet. The Service from Bluewater Vacation Homes was excellent. They regularly followed up with reminders and local information. The only "problem" I had, being a Luddite, was trying to figure out how to operate the tv's and dvd players. An instruction sheet would be useful and appreciated

390541 - Casa de las Olas - La Jolla Vacation Rental This is a small, cozy, beautiful cottage with everything you need to spend a vacation.From the living room and the bedroom you can see the waves in the ocean. The decoration is very nice with details in every corner. The location is great, close enough from the beach, the park, restaurants, shopping... I recommend it for two adults and two small children or three adults at most because it has only one small bathroom. We only spent three nights and wanted to stay longer. Wow - Central Location and Clean, Charming Cottage. We enjoyed the privacy of the cottage with the lovely updated kitchen, spacious living/dining area and comfortable bed. The shower was dreamy and high tech. We just loved the location, close to the beach (yes, views) and all the shops and restaurants a block away. Excellent remodel for an old cottage. Parking was not a problem, and we rarely used our car, anyway. I would definitely return and thank the management company for the helpful binder with all the necessary information to enjoy the area. We started with mimosas in the cottage with ocean views, then walked up the back steps to downtown La Jolla to enjoy the shops and restaurants and treats! (the gelato at the gelateria frizzante is amazing) Later that afternoon we enjoyed a stroll along the coast... all without driving anywhere!! It was wonderful to have the cottage in the middle of everything to pop back into. It was so relaxing 🙂 This cottage is absolutely adorable. I loved the bright fun appliances and everything was so clean and new. There was everything we needed and more! We laughed at our curiosity when we pressed the button over the bedside table, and the steam shower started! This place has it all! I would definitely stay here again and again!! Looking for a weekend away from Los Angeles stress, a friend and I set out to La Jolla to find haven near the water. We expected the 8001 Ocean Lane property to be the ideal getaway but had no idea it was going to be as marvelous as it was. The listing photos and description do not do justice to the serene and charming atmosphere of the place. It was brilliantly clean with all the necessary amenities and left us beaming with delight at the door, fearing that if we walked too far in it would end up being a dream. The surrounding area has a variety of shops, cafes, and attractions that are just blocks away making exploring easily accessible. Yet, even with the town center being just up the street, there is little rowdy foot or vehicle traffic around the cottage providing the perfect feeling of comfortable seclusion. The area and shops are incredibly welcoming, relaxing, and fun look for smiling servers and delicious treats at Cups cupcakery! I highly recommend the cottage to any friend
